ACA- BELIEVE IT! Pitch Perfect 2 is actually good! {review}

pitch-perfect-2

In short, I’m that person who has seen the original Pitch Perfect a good 30 times. I know all the words to all the songs. I know the dance routines of the performances. The biggest reason I know so much is because I was in Europe two years ago and there was a movie channel (the only English channel) that played it on repeat. It’s one of those movies that looked cheesy in the commercials, but turned out to be really well written, hilarious, and had well-rounded, diverse characters.

That being said, I was a little hesitant to see the second one. With such a solid first film, sequels usually ruin it for me. I went in with low expectations, expecting it to try really hard to be like the first one, but fail miserably in all aspects. I was pleasantly surprised when it didn’t suck.

I’m not saying that it is a great film, but it is good, and it definitely is a good time. The first one is amazing, and being that no one expects the second one to be better than the first, the second one is a good continuation of the story of The Barden Bellas. The humor is fresh and witty. Instead of trying to keep the same jokes and the same plot line, they actually modified it successfully. The characters grow in unexpected ways, the plot line is interesting, and the jokes are funny as hell + the MUSIC is great. If you love the first one, it is definitely worth checking out the second one.
