Tay is currently in LA visiting and we’re about to tuck in after a long day of exploring. We’ve managed to fit a lot in for 3 days and can’t wait to do even more! Here’s what we’ve done so far.
After picking Tay up from the airport on Sunday and dealing with insane LA traffic, we got some froyo at 21 Choices and tucked in early.
On Monday, I (Kate) headed out to an early Pilates class at Wundabar Pilates while Tay recovered from a very long day of travel. After showering up we had the best huevos rancheros at Lincoln in Pasadena.
After that, we headed to the Norton Simon and wandered the museum for a few hours before heading in to Old Town Pasadena for some window shopping (and a bit of real shopping- details to come!).
That night, we drove over to Glendale to walk around the Americana. We went to In-N-Out for dinner and got some candy from Sugarfina for dessert before tucking in early to prepare for the next day.
Yesterday we went for a killer hike in Runyon Canyon and took in some of the best views in the city. I had to go to my doctor at UCLA, so we picked up some juices from Pressed before my afternoon appointment.
After my appointment, we went to Huckleberry in Santa Monica for lunch and then laid out on the beach until about 4:15, hoping to miss rush hour traffic. Unfortunately LA traffic won again (it took 2 hours to drive 20 miles, although we did put on basically a full concert in the car).
This morning, we hopped on the metro and headed downtown for a bit of exploring on foot. We started off by wandering around Olvera Street and learning about some of LA’s history- there are a lot of really cool little museums that offer free admission, so we took advantage of the opportunity.
From Grand Central Market, we walked up Angel’s Flight and were hoping to sit in the park overlooking the market a la (500) Days of Summer, but unfortunately it’s been closed. We decided to walk off our lunch and headed to Disney Concert Hall where we climbed even more stairs and got some great views. It was really warm and sunny, so we stopped at Lemonade for drinks before walking over to the Bradbury building, which is the oldest commercial building in LA, and the Last Bookstore, an art installation project-meets-community gathering place-meets-bookstore.
We’ve got more plans for tomorrow so we’re going to bed, but without further adieu…..
